Meet the team.
Lauren Elise Rogers, CHSE
CERTIFIED HOLISTIC SEXUALITY EDUCATOR
Through her decade of work in the maternal-health industry, Lauren developed a passion for guiding individuals and communities to new levels of knowledge and discernment.
Though immensely fulfilling, her tenure of working with women from preconception - postpartum revealed a severe lack of sexual education. Then, after a divorce and subsequent liberation she became determined to unearth the roots of sexual oppression seen around her.
In 2021, she returned to school to obtain a certification in Holistic Sex Education with the Institute for Sexuality Education and Enlightenment, whose program is approved by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).
Seeking a positive and respectful approach to sex education, Lauren was thrilled that ISEE was founded to “facilitate a profound opening of our awareness while achieving the highest standards of professional development.” Through ISEE Lauren studied the lasting effects of trauma, disability, culture, and spirituality on human sexuality.
Unlearning and expanding thought patterns can be challenging and vulnerable. By combining her decade of program development with her passion for transformative education, Lauren now specializes in creating containers that allow students to sit safely in discomfort while developing the tools necessary to support “pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence.” (WHO)
Lauren was drawn to a Holistic Model of Sex Education because, like most, she learned about sex in a less than desirable way. Her gentle group courses and personalized individual education allow her students to walk away with “not only knowledge, but also a deeper sense of connection to themselves.” (ISEE)
With an extensive background in the performing arts, Lauren is thrilled to be able to harness her innate communication skills to teach and cultivate embodied education. While she’s “mostly retired,” she can still occasionally be found singing and dancing on regional stages; but mostly you’ll find her in her kitchen delighting (annoying) her partner and daughter with her theatrical antics.
Lauren adores welcoming anyone and everyone into her home for a bowl of soup and a glass of wine, but most days you’ll find her curled up with a cup of coffee and a book.
Holland Bankston
Chief Culture & Content Coordinator
Holland knew from a young age that she wanted to work in the health field— she always felt called to help others understand themselves and cherish the connection between body and mind. When she became a survivor of sexual abuse at 15, she found solace in helping others cope with similar trauma through conversation and companionship.
In 2019, Holland began classes at Texas A&M University, with the intention of becoming a Physician’s Assistant. She quickly learned that path was not for her and was uncertain of her future for the years to follow, until in Fall of 2021, she took a class titled “Human Sexuality” with Dr. Susan Milstein. Holland was overwhelmed with a desire to learn more and was absolutely thrilled upon having conversations with Dr. Milstein about the possibility of working in the field of Human Sexuality.
Filled with ideas, dreams, and desires, Holland completed her Junior year at Texas A&M, but she was still uncertain of her career path. Come Fall of 2022, a video Lauren made went viral on Instagram and it came across Holland’s feed. She went on a deep dive; learning everything she could about Sex Ed For You. A spark had been lit and it was quickly turning into a raging fire of joy and passion. Holland finally knew what she wanted to do.
In November ‘22, Holland sent Lauren an email with her cover letter and resume, fingers crossed and heart on her sleeve, asking for an internship at Sex Ed For You. The two met for a brief Zoom call in December, shortly after Christmas and the rest is history. Holland was the SEFY intern from January to May of 2023, her final semester at Texas A&M. In May, Lauren offered Holland a trial run employment contract for 6 weeks. In the middle of that contract, Holland and Lauren both sheepishly brought up the idea of Holland moving to Virginia. The two agreed it was a crazy leap, but boy was it worth it!
Holland now lives in Central Virginia, working as the Chief Culture & Content Coordinator for Sex Ed For You. She works behind the scenes to ensure the business runs smoothly— maintaining relationships with clients, sponsors, and partners, creating content such as blog posts and social media, and other fun business-y things. ;) She maintains a position as a baker and barista at a local bakery while Sex Ed For You continues to grow.
