July '23 Journal Prompts
Are embodiment and erotic awareness the opposite of sexual suppression? I’m dedicated to finding out this July.
Is embodiment necessary? Do we need to be in tune with our bodies? Why or why not?
What does embodiment mean to you? Being in-the-body? Something different?
Does coming back to the body start with self-criticism or self-love? Why?
Is there a connection to our pleasure and orgasmic practices that are directly related to the comfort we have in our own bodies? Does that trace back to childhood? Do the childhood versions of ourselves deserve good things? Joy and pleasure?
Do you start your day with pleasure? With an orgasm? Have you ever done an Orgasmic Meditation? (p. 118 of Pleasure Activism) Have you ever dedicated 15-minutes to masturbation every morning for a week? Could you try?
Are you a 'pleasure unto yourself?’ Have you ever taken photos of your body? Not to share, but to admire? Have you ever videoed yourself masturbating? Why or why not? What comes up in your body when I ask these questions?
Are there any "I would never!" phrases that escape your mouth about solo or partnered sexual experiences? Why does this judgement exist? What would it look like to replace it with curiosity? What would it look like to say ' 'Haven't tried that yet!" instead of "I would never!"
Does curiosity lead us back to our bodies and towards a life filled with pleasurable relationships, work, and experiences that we ENJOY?
By allowing our senses to come alive, do we increase our "erotic awareness” and at the same time find TRUE embodiment?
Who was the original repressor of your sexuality? Does suppression of your sexual body keep you from being fully present and fully alive? Has the suppression gone on long enough? Can you bid it farewell? Today, can you reclaim your own body and begin to shower it with love, pleasure, and orgasms? How will you begin?
